Two Healthy Salad Dressing Recipes

A salad without a salad dressing would be like Bonnie without Clyde, Batman fighting for truth and justice minus his offsider, Robin, Maxwell Smart less his brains, Agent Ninty Nine and well, I think you get my drift. A salad needs a dressing or it’s just, well, naked salad.

The following two dressings are a great way to introduce more vegetables raw or cooked into your life as is suggested in  5 Cholesterol Myths Exposed. Be thoughtful about the ingredients you use. The hemp seed in the orange dressing is a great source of Omega 3, while the apple cider vinegar in the second dressing is a great source of probiotics and the extra virgin olive oil provides antioxidants, omega 3 fats and vitamins E and K.

 

Orange Hemp Seed Dressing

Two Healthy Salad Dressing Recipes

Makes about ¾ cup,

Ingredients

  • ½ cup hemp seeds
  • ½ cup orange juice
  • 1 clove of garlic, peeled
  • dash salt and/or pepper

Method

  • Blend all ingredients together until creamy.
  • Serve on top of your favourite salad and Enjoy!

Tip: Store extra in an airtight container in the fridge.  Will keep for about a week.

French Dressing

Two Healthy Salad Dressing Recipes

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup of a good apple cider vinegar
  • 1 good sized tsp of  Dijon mustard (I particularly like the grain mustard for this)
  • 2/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • salt and pepper

Method

  • Blend all ingredients together until creamy. Or just plonk the ingredients into a jar with a good screw top lid and practice your maracas or just give it a good old shake.
  • Serve on top of your favourite salad and Enjoy!

As above store in an airtight container in the fridge. Leave to warm to room temperature before using.
